i have just bought a new computer has DDR2 installed. the CPU is crap (1500), so geting new motherboard and/with new cpu (cheap(as possible ASUS)). SO my question is, can i install DDR2 into a DDR400 slot?--> Will there be any know side affects or damage issues?

    Thanks

Planing on AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1600 MHz Socket 754 CPU
    motherboard: Asus K8S-MV/V Motherboard or
    Asus K8N Socket 754 AMD 64
Gigabyte K8NS Pro (not sure if it will support current graphics card. says only supports 1.5v)

Just wondering why you would buy a new computer that you didn't like the motherboard or memory. That's like buying a new car and throwing away the motor and transmission.

I did ask myself exactly the same question, hence the less than sympathetic answer
