well, I saw a similar problem for Hard drive in another thread, but the answers over there didn't help me. my CD-ROM disappears from my computer menu every once in a while and for having it back, I have to restart my computer. the same things happnes for my DVD-ROM (at the same time both of them disappear). the dvd rom eject button still works but the CDROM eject buttin doesnt work. in the event directory, I see an error note like this: " the device' samsung CD-R/RW SW-252S' (IDE\CdRomSamsung_CD-R/RW_SW-252S________________R91____\5$2641f50770&0.1.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal." this is an plugplaymanager evet id 12. so i wonder if anybody knows how we can solve the problem. are they both on the same data cable & what are they jumpered as as in master, slave or cable select?
well i am not very familiar with the connections and cables inside the system! should I open the case to see the situation?
