My current computer has the following: Pentium 4 cpu 2.53 GHz 766 MB Ram Radeon 9600xt 128MB No sound card worth mentioning 1 dvd drive and 1 cd drive I have noticed that a lot of the recent pc games have had requirements that I could barely meet. There are a few games that are unplayable. Like Battle for Middle earth 2 and Company of Heroes. I can play them but they are constantly lagging or crashing, so they are pretty much unplayable. I would like to get a top of the line gaming pc and my budget is $3000 to $3500. That includes everything i.e monitor speakers etc etc... I have been looking around for places to buy a pc but haven't found much. Companies like Dell and Alienware, (yes, I know dell owns Alienware, i think), have great computers, but I don't think they would let me build one from the ground up (maybe they do and I just don't know about it). They just don't give me enough options. The place I am seriously considering is ibuypower.com. I saw their advertisment in PC Gamer magazine. They give me a lot of options and it seems like a good price. The thing I like about dell is that they will let you pay a smaller amount monthly instead of paying for the whole thing in one go and I don't think ibuypower will do that. It would be ideal if I could just get the components from newegg and build it, but I have no idea how to build one, I mean I don't know anything about building, I know a little about components but nothing about how to install them. So after boring everyone with all that I guess I should ask my question. Is there any place that would let me buy my own things, for example from newegg, and then put my computer together for me (obviously for a fee). I would just like to know the best way to go about buying a near top of the line rig. I was also worried about WHEN to buy it. I have heard that amd is coming out with a quad core processor in early 2007, and with all the leaps and bounds in graphic cards I don't know if I should buy now or wait. I don't make a lot of money, I have been saving up for some time to get a new cpu, so you can guess how anxious I am to make sure I buy a really good rig with all the right parts that will last a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I have time I think I will get a list of the components that I want in my cpu and list them here to see if everything looks good, thanks for any help, I love afterdawn and have been given a ton of help and saved a ton of money because of all the awesome advice and help. you already have half of a great pc, you just need to remove your mobo, cpu, ram and graphics card. then take your $3500 and buy some highend products to replace those removed. you might be better ordering the new parts on-line before you take the guts out of your pc. would you be comfortable doing that? you would get a higher speced machine doing it yourself, rather than paying a company to do it for you, and its a great feeling knowing that your hands put it all together.
