Just get Core 2 Duo =]

But if youre an AMD fan (i think AMD is better for gaming) i Suggest you getting A SINGLE core processor, since applications like games can only be utilized with 1 of the cores (multi-threading hasnt been introduced to games just as yet). Hence, your other core will be sitting around twiddling its thumbs.

But if you get a single core processor, the game will use the full core, and when compared to the other scenario, will yield better results.

IMO, the single core 3800+, when used in gaming will do better than the dual core 4600+. Of course, you will need a respectable GPU for good results.

Warning: The Intel conroe E6600 (dual core) will defeat both processors in any scenario, hands down.

    Good luck

there are pros and cons for dual cores when gaming. i have an amd 3400 and for single player offline games its fine, but if i play online and my firewall starts up it will interupt the game. now if i had a dual core i could run one prog on each core, problem solved.

an e6600 [bold]conroe will be better for everything[/bold] compared to any amd chip right now.

if i was you i would get a dual core cpu, game makers are starting to bring out dual core patches for games and future ones will already utilise both cores, and other games can be made to only use one of the cores any way.

but this is only my opinion, you realy need to ask people with dual core rigs
