Simple answer: don't.

Longer answer: Nero's internal routines that allow converting AVIs to VCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">VideoCD or SuperVCD format (SVCD "plugin" is commercial), suck. Big time.

Notes: You should always avoid re-encoding video material from lossy format (like DivX) to another lossy format (like VCD or SVCD) because each conversion drops the quality significantly.

I still want to do this (in order to play the video with my stand-alone DVD player), how do I do it then?

Use TMPGEnc. Some kind of advice can be found from here:

...if you don't have subs or don't want those, simply drop the other steps, but look at the TMPGEnc steps directly. If you encounter issues with TMPGEnc, please read this:
