I was wondering if someone could please help...... I work at a small print company and recently we bought some new computers and had them assembled at a computer warehouse. It seems like they have not done all the steps correctly and as it turns out, none of the usb ports seem to recognize USB memory sticks and when we try to insert them they sometimes crash the machines. Has anyone encountered this before? I could always take them back and tell them to fix the problem, however if it is a simple fix then i could do it myself. Under device manager it says that all the usb ports are working correctly, so i am clueless. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks
i am having that problem right now also. my front two ports on my PC does not work for memory sticks. but i can plug them into the back and they perfectly. i was told by one of the manufacturers that maybe the drive is not 2.0, and does not have the power to run the drives. that is what i was told. someone might tell you the real truth.
Exact same prob for me. Back ones work, front ones don't...... interesting..... at least i know i'm not the only one with these problems
you could have the wires that conect the front ports connected to the wrong pins on the motherboard header
check the usb cables from front of case to motherboard as sounds like either missed wired or not connected. also look at the motherboard for burned components as had that happened on a new motherboard once.
