Hi i bought a commponent cable for me to plug my ps2 into my new HDTV, I have plugged all colours correctly, when i put on the commponent channel i get a message on the screen which says NO SIGNAL, but there is still sound coming throug, How do i correct this proble to get picture and sound.

make sure your "component out" option is set-up correctly on your PS2. Just boot your PS2 without a disc, and you should be able to enter the setup options there.
