hey guys, i got a cpu that is socket 478 2.4mzh, but the thing is that it dosnt have a heat spreader on top so the silicon is exposed, when i plug it into my computer it beeps so that means that its over heating, system running at lower frequencey. ive tried applying thermal paste, and increasing the clamp pressure, but none of that seems to help, anyone got any suggestions, or where i could get a heat spreader? -thanks
By heatspreader im guessing you mean a heatsink. And you can get them everywere. I mean any computer shop would sell them!! Lecsiy
not a heat sink, i have a heat sink. im talking about a heat spreader, its the metal thing that covers the silicon on the cpu it totally diffrent from a heat sink.
O right i got ya sorry about that! Well it is 1:30 in the morning back here! Id agree with marsey contact intel!! Lecsiy
I would love to help you out with your problem but I am a bit confused here because youre talking about putting a heat spreader on a CPU and heat spreaders are used on RAM Modules (Memory) not on a CPU. So can you please explain in more detail or Personal Message me and maybe then you can send me some pictures possibly. Then I will have a much better understanding of what it is that you are wanting to do.
You could always try going down a tip somewere. I mean its horrible but my bet is youl find an old computer with an old cpu there! Lecsiy
