My friend ripped subtitles from HD film and gave me those. So now I have two files: subs.subs and subs.idx (index I guess) and the problem is I cant get these subs working.

First I tried to input them to MPC and got this error: http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/8316/evevein3.jpg then I changed render type to VMR9 renderless, restarted MPC but subs still didn't work. I tried to open .sub file with 'subtitle workshop' but it says that it doesnt support that file format. I have also tried to rename .subs file to same with the video file and then played video but didn't help either. What should I do?

And when I open .sub file in word or notepad there is no clear text, just alot wierd shit like this "ºD½%D‰Ãø ½ì€! ¯IQ
    í J !A¡Á£Bâ‚"

If you want your subs to work with MPC, or open them with Subtitle Workshop, then you need the subs to be in text format, for example .srt. Sub/idx subs are bitmapped subs. Have your friend rip the subs as text.
