I just bought an MSI 7900 GTO from OCUK, put it in my pc and was shocked when it ran no better than my last card ( a 6610 xl). So I phoned them up and they advised me to upgrade my PSU. So I got a Hiper 530w psu, installed it and now the card runs even slower! . Im getting about 10fps on counter strike at 1280\1024 with no AA or AF. Can someone please help me out. Thanks , Tom ps they now advise me to format the hard drive and do a clean install. could this work?.
shouldnt need a clean install i would send the card back. could be something wrong with it. yes more power is necessary but it shouldnt slow ti down. make sure al drivers are installed and updated adn everything is running optimal.
you say you got shocked? i thnk static screws up circuit boards, if i were you, i'd return it but dont say you got shocked
tell them where to stick their fresh install. if you do a clean driver install(unistall it from add/remove programs but dont restart, go to c drive delete folder named nvidia empty bin and them restart pc) and it still gives you the same performance send it back and tell them its faulty, if they try to fob you off they them that you have tried every thing they can think of till they give in and replace it.
