I recently Bought a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ATA-100 Hard Drive at www.tigerdirect.com . When I installed I turned PC on. Did some Configurations, and through in an windows xp operating disc.Goes into a screen saying boot failure. So I ask a friend why it does not work. He tells me that ultra ATA-100 does not work in a SATA mobo. Can anyone help me with that problem, Or can anyone tell me a few mobos that are ultra ATA-100 compatible.
if the board has an ide connector on it than will support hd as mine does as mine has both ide & sata connectors on it but using an ide hd. does the bios see the hd at all?
on start up.. shows the gateway logo..then go's into a black screen for a while and then into a boot failure screen.
yes tho i didn't have to do that with mine as i use win98se on a p4 2.5ghz celeron, 512meg ddr & 160gig hd. when loading xp on a customer's computer that has a floppy drive, i use a win98 bootdisk to fdisk & format the hd before loading xp.
The discwizard works. Now just going to go figure out some other stuff. guitarwizard605 on xfire. noticed this forums only allows just a few replys.
reboot the computer with the xp cd in rom drive & when it says "press any button to boot from rom disk" press enter & follow it's instructions. 1 part will ask to put in new password & if don't need 1 than don't.
I got it to work.I had to use Windows 98 instead of a Windows XP. Now I just need to find my Windows 98 Second Edition CD rom. Is there a place I can another one of these cds?
