I'm currently shopping for a new computer, and wish to get a DVD burner. Which type of drive would be better, or might have more advantages? My main use for the drive would be to back up DVDs to watch on my computer and stand-alone DVD players. Is one of these formats more widely recognized in DVD players? I also plan to use it for backups of data, but primarily DVD movie backups. Also, is either media less expensive than the other? So i was either looking into getting a system with a DVD-RAM/DVD-R drive, or one with a DVD+RW. Just curious as to which might be better. Thanks!
DVD-RAM is useless format as it doesn't work with DVD players. DVD-R/RW like Pioneer's writers are good. DVD+RW like HP's writers are good. Only real difference is that "plus" discs cost helluva lot more.
