Curerntly looking at buying an Xbox with some heat issues! Owner claims "It still works it fires up straight away but after that you have to wait an hour for it to cool down before it will work again,Power pack may be gone im not sure, i'm sure someone is smart enough to fix it.I just didnt have the patience so i bought another one instead. It has been opened only to be cleaned of dust which was done, nothing was taken or removed."

Firstly, I doubt he cleaned it properly, I was thinking of getting into the heatsinks with compressed air. Also thinking of hotwiring the case fan to permanent 12v as suggested here http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/xbox_locks_up.htm

What do you guys think? Power supply issue?

Now the guy has mentioned this...

I HAVE JUST TESTED MY XBOX NOW AND IT DOESNT SEEM TO WORK AT ALL.IT STILL POWERS UP WITH THE GREEN LIGHT ON BUT NOW ALL THAT COMES UP IS A WHITE SCREEN,IT HAS ME BEAT MAY BE IT WILL BE GOOD FOR SPARE PARTS.THERE HAS BEEN NO OTHER CHANGES. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVIENCE.

What do make of this then? Maybe a bad cable? Green light is solid he reckons!
