Hello all. I have been trying to get 2 movies to play using the subtitles provided with the releases. The titles are Shinobi.DVDVRip.XviD-PROMiSE & The.Da.Vinci.Code.DVDRip.XviD-ZN. Both movies include .idx & .sub, but the da vinci release also includes a sub fix. Subs have been giving me grief for quite some time. From what i've read the majority of the threads say simply put the extracted subs in the same folder as the extracted .avi and just play the .avi and the subs will work. Not true for me. In addition I dont simply want to play the movies off my pvr with subs i'd like to burn both flicks to dvd with the subs. PPPlease help this has been a long standing thorn in my side. Don't forget Santa is watching :p TIA

    1. Use VobSub or player that supports subtitles.
    (players like VLC media player)
    2. Put that .avi and .sub to same folder and make sure they have the same name.
    3. Watch your movie with subs....

And use VSO ConvertXtoDVD (formerly known as DivXtoDVD) convert them to dvd-files. Then just burn them using Nero.

Thank you very much. I got the program VSO ConvertXtoDVD to do exactly as you said. Was super simple following your directions. Thanks again.

    Hi,

I tried that and everything worked nicely but the subtitles can't be seen on the preview aren't being encoded on the preview screen and also after encoding. Do you have any suggestions? The subtitle file is showing up when I load the .avi.

    Thank you,

    Kim

One of the movies I was having probs with didnt have the same name for the .sub file and .avi did you check that? When I extracted both files they had different names. When I renamed the .avi to match the .sub and .idx it was all good :) Just a thought. Good luck.

    Hi,

That was one of the things I checked and it was fine. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
