Just wondering, how ofter does DN change their keys? or the encryption system? I'm planning on getting a viewsat extreme and the installer told me it has the ability to autoroll (automatically calculate keys). Just wondering, when the provider changes the encryprion type, how would the receiver decode the signals?

There are what might be called 2 parts to the encryption stream process. The main encryption and the key numbers. The main encryption is decoded by the BIN file you install into your receiver. The BIN file kind of acts like the decoding program. The keys could be looked at as the passwords. Both need to be correct to make the receivers work. Its easy for the providers to change keys so they do it quite often, almost daily. The main encryption stream requires a complete re-write by coders so you don't see that as often. But when they do that it usually shuts down FTA for a few days to several months. It depends on how hard they make it for our coders to re-write a new BIN file for each receiver. We were down almost 3 months between June and September. Yes most of the present files do have auto roll for the key part. If that stops working then you need to look for the file updates that will correct the auto roll again. You need to learn how to shut off auto roll at times and manually enter keys to keep watching TV. Its all a game between the sat providers and us FTA testers.
