Hi I have a Maxtor 250GB SATA with 6 partitions one for OS, one for SOFTWARE, and the other for docs and else... It was working OK but when I start using Bitcomet the OS become slower and freezes sometimes when working...when I run a (Windows) scandisk, it does it when booting and show me I have 8KB in damaged sectors!!! so the question is... Is there any way to fix this sectors? Somebody told me about formating low level, writing 0 in all disk, what about it? If couldnt be fixed is there anyway to make the OS not witing in them? Any other solution that not involved buying a new one? And finally, does the torrent client damaged or why could them be damaged? PS: Sorry about my english isnt my mothers language. THX
could be overheating. Friends pc was frezzing an reseting when using bitcomet so he took the side off the pc and it didnt freeze anymore. Try that if it fixes it clean the heatsinks and fans.
Damaged sectors could mean either physical or data damage, however it sounds like it may be physical damage. If it's data damage then writing zeroes to the whole disk and reformatting and reinstalling windows should fix it, but first you will have to back up ALL data you wish to keep, as this WILL erase everything. If it's physical damage, then you'll have to replace the hard drive, just back up all your data ASAP. Download maxblast here http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/M...age/DiamondMax+Family/Utilities&downloadID=57 and run all three tests one after the other, and use the burn-in test with approximately 3-4 passes, that will determine if there's something physically wrong with the drive. If there is it will give you a diagnostic code and you can contact maxtor with that code to attempt to request an RMA, if you can get one then you may be able to get it replaced at no charge. Good luck
