Hey i am very very new to burning stuff. I wanted to burn a couple avis as a data dvd. I've tried fixing the dma and defragmenting. Im not really sure about the firmware.I've fixed a couple errors by reading through the other topics, but I still cant get it to work. I know i need more free memory and im going to try that next time. please help. Thanks in advance. Hi xcloudx Here's some suggestions. Recorder: <_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A> Version: 1.05 Update the firmware to 1.06. May help your drive read this media better. Right know all it see is Media type: DVD+R . No media info listed. What media are you using? May be part of the problem too. Try this guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS' Roxio and Nero don't always play well together. Uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool to remove it all. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml Give those a go and let us know.
thanks for the help. I've gotten past the session fixation error, but im still getting other errors. Does it have something to do with the (Key_illegal_request) thing? I keep seeing it in my logs. I fixed the DMA and roxio stuff, but I cant flash my drive. The instructions from the site were a bit complicated so i went to find a simpler way to flash it. I found one, but it said since i have NVIDIA i can't flash my drive. Updated Log in first post. o ya. The dvd+r i am using r TDK. I hear that they aren't very good quality, but i have a lot of them (part of the reason i decided to burn stuff).
Hi xcloudx, You're right. TDK isn't very good media at all. If you will buy more media, then buy Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Try using this link to update your firmware. http://www.de.nec.de/software/2344_FW_ND-3550A_106win.zip When doing it though, make sure you have nothing in your drive and all other programs are closed. In your new log, I pick ed one this... Your mem usage is quite high, remember not to multitask, and close off virus progs etc. Edit: The illegal key error is media related...
Since there is a chance i can burn on TDK, i can ignore the illegal key requst? thx for the help. i'll try it and see if it works
I'd try the firmware update before you go and buy more disks. Then if you don't have any luck with the update, buy disks I recommended.
Just to add to ripper excellent advice: Like ripper said about the memory - free some up and close all unneeded programs cause you're also still getting this error - Reset occurred Something running may be causing this.
Thanks for the help. I've gotten past the session fixation error and disc at once, but now i've got another problem. I've freed up as much memory as i could (with my limited knowledge) and i still got the reset occured. It says reset, then generating dvd borders complete, and then it fails. I have some questions too. Can you tell me what these mean? Key_No_Attention Key_No_sense Changing the Book Type was finished with error, return code -1065 Ive tried both 4x and 8x. I've found out taht 1.05 supports TDK DVD+R and 1.06 doesn't so I'm positive ive got the right firmwar (doesnt matter since i couldnt flash anyways) Edit: Now it wont let me burn at 4x. I get 8x 12x 16x and 18x
Are you still getting this error in the log (KEY_UNIT_ATTENTION)? The errors you are getting can be drive or media related. 1st I would switch media. For the firmware usually as far as I know newer ones just add to the media codes in the drive read only memory. So if TDK was listed in 1.05 it would be ok w/ 1.06. But since you can't update it probably not the problem since you found it was supported in 1.05 (though it still doesn't list the media info - weird). For booktyping try turning it off. In Burning Rom on the burn tab there should be an options button - click on that - the booktype setting may be there for your drive (your drive doesn't support it) For the memory look in your system tray - anything you have running on start up that you can turn off like ITunes, IM's etc?
I've been using Nero express. This might be a noob question, but if you want to burn a data dvd, which format do you use? I'm trying to put avis onto a data dvd to play on a dvd player.
Just pick the data dvd option. Does your dvd player accept divx/avi's? Will need to - to burn as a data dvd.
