DVD to XviD : deinterlacing with ffmpegX

Hi.

I'm using ffmpegX (on Mac OS X) to convert DVD to XviD. DVD was first ripped using Decrypter and Shrink (under Windows). On my final AVI file, I'm getting interlaced motion artefacts, like those present on the following example:




Which option should I use while encoding: "deinterlaced" in the "Filters" tab? Or "Interlaced content" in the "Options" tab.

For a Progressive display you have to de-interlace at some point so if you encode as interlaced content, that means de-interlacing at playback.

Thanks for the answer. So the "deinterlaced" fonction is apply on interlaced content to change it into a Progressive content. Then, the "Interlaced content" fonction serves what purpose exactly? It indicates to ffmepgX that the content is interlaced, but what for? For optimization of the re-encoding?
