    i have a [bold]geforce 6600 256mb agp[/bold] graphics card
    with stock heatsink/fan.
    my processor is an [bold]amd 64 3000+[/bold] overclocked to [bold]2.22ghz[/bold] on an [bold]asrock k8upgrade vm800 socket 754 motherboard[/bold].
i just bought the [bold]coolermaster hyper 6 cpu heatpipe[/bold] & installed the new forceware drivers for my graphics card.

after installing the driver i went to the [bold]nvidia control panel[/bold] to see if i could overclock the card anymore as it was at:-
    [bold]2d & 3d clock (deafault 300mhz) - 424mhz..
    memory clock (default 400mhz) - 523mhz..[/bold]

when i got to the overclocking tool (i unlocked [bold]coolbits[/bold] in the registry ages ago) [bold]i noticed it had my 2d clock at 0mhz, the 3d clock at 449mhz & the memory clock was at 800mhz!!![/bold]

heres the pic i took at the time:-

sometimes after i try to put the frequency up (or even down) & try to run the test it always failed..

i left it alone for a while & ended up going back to it & was left looking at this:-
    http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n16/neild79/geforce6600-1.jpg

[bold]my memory core was now at a stagering 1.00ghz!!!!!!!!!
    who could imagine a geforce 6600 @ 1.00ghz???
    AGP as well :)[/bold]

before i get carried away i wanted to ask if anyone knows whats happening here??
[bold]is the control panel reporting false frequencies?
i ran detect optimal frequencies & it put my memory clock
    all the way upto 1.04ghz!!
could it be something wrong with the new forceware drivers??[/bold]

any help/advice or suggestions are appreciated/welcome
as im totally confused here [bold]<*.*>[/bold]

    thanks

if it tells you that is optimal, be happy.

if it causeing errors, drop it down.

which forceware are you using?(93.71 is the latest)

93.71 is the driver i installed..
it has improved some games, but sometimes if i try to put the frequencies down/up it fails the test..
sometimes it will let me, & other times it wont.

dont get me wrong i would be really happy if this was my optimal settings but i fear there is something wrong here.
the highest i ever got it to was 523MHz & i dont believe 1 driver update could have DOUBLED it.

has anything like this ever happened to you marsey99?
also, is the 2d clock even needed/used these days?
& if i could would i better setting the 2d as low as possible & add the extra onto the memory clock/3d clock?
what sort of difference would this make to my gaming & would this hamper me when playing games?

thanks for any help i recieve

sorry, when i clicked on the button to post my reply, it said the page could not be displayed.
but when i refreshed the page i seen it had posted my reply twice.

so it's not my fault, i blame it on internet explorer <*.*>

may as well ask a question while im here:-
is the geforce 7600gt available in AGP??

im going to wait a few months & get a new dx10 card/mobo/cpu/case/psu/ram but want to get a better card
    for in the meantime.

    cer-ching!

i get what your asking now :)

its giving you the dual data rate (ddr) speed so it just looks better.

on the last forceware mine was 840mhz and now it says 1680mhz

alot of people are having problems ocing the new forceware but mostly with 7800 cards your the first iv seen with a 6600 having trouble. im not sure what the deal is with the new one as it now tells me my optimal clocks are 610 core and 750mem (well 1500 but you know) but 91.47 says its 615 and 810 and i can manualy upped it to 625 and 840 with no trouble at all. i think its nvidia trying to stop the ocing but who knows?

yes you can get 7800gt agp cards

mines a pcix version and for me it was the best £100 iv spent on my pc with my 19" lcd a close second. my last card was a 5500 and at this res it would not play any thing. now all the games i play are on almost full settings, soft shadows are the only thing i drop in most games.

ok thanks for the help marsey99.

but what about the 2d clock?
is this clock really needed in this day & age?
would it seriously affect my game if i set the 2d clock to 0mhz or even 100mhz & add the rest onto the 3d clock/memory clock?

    thanks

to be honest im not sure how low you could set the 2d clock to and it still be usable.

on mine i cant change it only the 3d clock.
