just tried it again, it has stopped loading in safe mode now as well. every time i turn on the monitor works up until the windows logo shows and as it is about to open to my desktop it shuts off... now if i try to open in safe mode it gets stuck on the agp440.sys driver and does not go past there... please help....

your right, dont dissconect things when it switched on.

you could try reseting the bios, but im not sure if it will work, i think the problem lies within windows not with your hardware.

Yeah um,you probably did some real damage, best things is to test another monitor on it,or just take it to the pc store and hear what they have to say.

    thanks,

could someone advise me what to do to try to fix it?
you might think im being cheap, but i went in to a store and explained the situation to the guy, and from his response i think he knows exactly what to do and wants to charge me £50 for something i might be able to do myself (with a little guidance of course)....

im willing to give it a try if i can get the help... (haha wont hold you responsible if i mess it up ;)

i think the problem is with windows or your screen, but on the hardware side you could try reseting your bios and crossing your fingers. :)

can you test that the screen still works at the same resolution that your pc is set to? as you might of damaged that.

im sorry i do not know how to reset the bios...
i have also done something else wrong now. i have 2 video cards on the pc, and the inactive one was blocked off. since the monitor was not working on the regular video card i unblocked the original one (i think its the generic one for the mother board) and tried to boot up the computer. i believe that this is why it is not starting in safe mode anymore...
