Dvd Decrypter quirkiness and unreliability vs. SmartRipper

    My dvddecrypter will sometimes rip movies with the .iso and .mds extention, yet sometimes it rips it as an .ill, .ioo, and some other extention that's like 5 kb. Why is this? I I were to use dvddecrypter to burn the disk, which one of the three would I use? What is the explanation for this anyhow?
    Another question is that sometimes (again, on movies 4.36 or smaller) I am able to drag it over as a video_ts file and rip it from nero with no problem, and sometimes not. When I'm about to write, a "DVD reallocation error" has occurred. I'm doing the EXACT same thing...dragging the video_ts folder, and it doesn't work. How strange is it that I have more problems burning dvd5 disks than I do burning dvd9 disks!

    I've never tried SmartRipper because I have never had a problem with DVDDecrypter. Head over to http://www.dvddecrypter.com for full guides on how to use the various options provided.

    Your suppose to have IFO, VOB, BUP file after DVD Decrypter.

    unless I rip it in .iso mode, which is what afterdawn tells us to do

    you need to do it in file mode

    lol - only rip in ISO if you want to burn an image. Use IFO file mode for getting the correct VOB's, IFO's, BUP's etc...

    I used to use Smart ripper to get dvds on my computer long before I had a burner. Worked fine.

    Then I tried using it to rip a dvd when I got a burner so that I could burn a dvd. Nero had a prob with the files smart ripper ripped. I forget the error. Something about file allocation. Never used smart ripper again.

    Better than dvddecrypter? I dunno 'bout that. Never had a prob with dvddecrypter.

    what the others aren't getting is that is exactly the problem I've been getting...only on certain disks. I drag the video ts folder ripped by both smartripper and dvddecrypter, and it'll say 'video allocation error'. It didn't matter if it was by smartripper or dvddecrypter - they both had the same results. But what I noticed is that the ones that won't let me burn it merely by dragging the video_ts file, I CAN burn it in ISO mode. It's just unfortunate that I have to rip it in both FILE and ISO mode to find out which it will work in.

    If you guys are skeptical, try dvddecrypting/smartipping THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG. You'll get the same problem.
