i am working on an hp laptop running window xp home and the dvd rom only reads the cds that it wants to... it reads the recovery cd and a KISS dvd but it doesnt read every cd that i put in it... what coud the problem be?
Chances are your laser is dieing. How long have you had this laptop? Laptop dvd drives are prone to dieing in about a year, after heavy(ish) use. Try cleaning your laser with a cotton bud and some rubbing alcohol.
