What's the simplest way to feed *just* the audio from a VHS tape into a pc?

If your looking for recording or audio editing program then try Audacity (it's free too).

I've used this method but the sound is very distorted, even after lower the levels etc.

I want to copy the audio on my computer from a (commercial) VHS concert tape that I own.

Is this due to copy protection???

Looking at the recorded waveform the right channel is completely distored and the left is slightly so.

BTW the I can record on to audio cassette fine.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks

    jules.
