PSP won't turn on - no lights at all

Hi

After not using my PSP for months I decided to give it a go. Now it will not turn on. I have tried to charge it but nothing happens. No lights at all, even when I plug in the charger.

I have also tried my extra battery. NOTHING.

Any ideas? This is frustrating. I take good care of my stuff. It has been sitting on a shelf in a case.

Yes I left it in. I didn't think about it as storing it. I just happened to all of a sudden not use it for a while.

I already tried charging it overnight.

Any other suggestions?

did it work fine before you put it into storage?

#6
Yes it worked perfectly. I never had any problems with it at all. Nothing has ever happened to it. It just doesn't work all of a sudden.

At first I thought it was the battery. I tried my replacement battery also but nothing happens. I am thinking maybe the batteries are totally powerless from not being used for so long?

Has anyone had similar problems. I'm really hoping the PSP isn't broken.

Try to start the PSP with only the AC adapter connected.

#8
I already tried that. With anf without a battery in it. There is no light at all when I connect the charger.
#9
this may sound n00bish but are you sure the ac adapter is plugged into a outlet? The ac adapter is two part so make sure you have the actual power cable that plugs into the wall pushed into the plastic Hub all the way.

#10
Maybe it is your AC adapter, If you have a multimeter/voltage meter give it a test.
#11
Thanks guys. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have a way to test the ac adapter, but I'm also hoping the flaw lies here.

I'm positive it is plugged all the way in.

I just ordered a USB charger on ebay. Cheapest thing I could get. Unfortunately none of my friends own PSPs.

Unless your psp suffered severe damage i really doubt it is your console.

i think also that its your charger. but maybe its the power connect gone dead? Very unlikely but possible. If you can get your hands on a Psp charger han you can really tel ifs the charger or another psp for that matter to chck vicea versa.

its pretty much impossible for the internal power connector to go bad; its basically a piece of wire with cotacts

hence "very unluckily, but possible"

Thanks everybody. I'm really hoping it isn't the console. Neither the PSP or the ac adapter has ever suffered any type of damage.

Is the ac adapter more fragile than the psp?

Neither of them are fragile, but you should always be carefull with the console, The AC adapter are known to die after bout 2-3 years, as with any AC adapter they burn out.

I just changed the cable that goes into the ac adapter. My psp is now working :-)
