Alright here is my little problem... I am buying a barebone PC for future upgrades and was confused when I seen the title of the item being, "eMachines W3503 Desktop PC w/ 17" CRT & 3.33GHz Intel Celeron D Processor 356" then thinking one thing I found this in the further item description, "Processor: AMD Sempron 3100+ processorOperates at 1.8GHz 256KB L2 Cache 1600MHz System Bus

    Memory: Intel Celeron D Processor 356 64-bit Technology with Intel EM64T; Operates at 3.33GHz 512KB L2 Cache 533MHz "

Does anyone want to decode that to a semi-computer illiterate individual? I mean it says 3.3GHz processor but contains a 1.8GHz?
I'm lost on this one so any input would be appreciated.

I am providing a link to the site in case I'm confusing you too. Click here for the link.

I think that sums up how clever walmart are with PCs.

I presume its a Celeron, but you then need to see what memory you are getting (get it in writing).

If you are buying for future upgrades, then your wasting your time buying that system.

This lot would cost about $560, not a lot more than you are paying for the other system, but would give you a good mobo with the abilty to really upgrade when you want to.

You can then put a very good GPU in, it will take dual channel memory, onboard sound will be good, and the CPU support will let you go to ectreme Core 2 later on if wanted.

There are no other briliant parts, but all are better than you'd get on the other system and all are upgradable.

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard $131
    Intel Pentium 4 511 Prescott 2.8GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 RoHS Version Processor - Retail $72
    CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) System Memory - Retail $55
JPAC Vodoo BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail $41
    Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM £44
Microsoft CA9-00001 Black 103 Normal Keys 3 Function Keys PS/2 Standard Basic Keyboard and Mouse Mouse Included - OEM $14
HIS Hightech HX30SHH256-1TOEN Radeon X300SE HyperMemory 256MB Hyper Memory(128M VRAM on board) 64-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $40
    NEC Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache E-IDE / ATAPI DVD Burner - OEM $30
Microsoft Windows XP Home Sp2b 1pk w/Upgrade Coupon for Vista - OEM $90
17" CRT Flat on Ebay Item number: 330053193989 $60 free delivery
SONY Beige 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model MPF920 Beige - OEM $6

You could play around with specific parts, but that would be a basic system that would get you up and running, except speakers.
If you plan to play games on the other one, you'll be dissapointed unless you're playing basic games.

All those parts can be found on newegg, i'm in Uk so don't have local knowledge of outlets in the US.

there are 2 speeds listed 3.33ghz is the "rated" speed as in how fast it acts

then there is the actual which is 1.8ghz

the difference can be the FSB(front side bus) or the chache lvl

    @rudsta816
Can you explain what you are trying to say, as it doesn't make any sense?
I think you need to do a bit of reading up.

The CPU will be a 3.33GHz CPU (that’s how many cycles per second it can operate at)
The rated Bus speed is 533 (that’s how fast the CPU will talk to the rest of the system)
As it will be a quad pumped CPU the CPU clock speed would be an FSB of 133, with a multiplier of 23.
L2 cache, has absolutely no impact on CPU speed what so ever.

The listing clearly shows two separate CPUs spec's (it’s a mistake)
