    If possible can a get a link or advice to going about hotswaping but only using a IDE to USD cable (basically connecting it through usb intead of IDE). When i tried it i could only get the harddrive to be recognized on my pc for a few seconds and then it would go away.

    You can't hotswap with USB, only IDE!!!
