Looks like my sons Motherboard has failed. It's a Gigabyte GA-8ISXT-FS. Trouble is, this is no longer made, so he's looking for a modern day compatible one (not neccessarily a Gigabyte model) Gigabyte His CPU is an Intel 2.8Gb Can anyone suggest a current motherboard that he can re use his CPU (and other peripherals) ? Many Thanks. Homerj
Assuming the case can hold a mATX board, then this one should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813185078 If not, then this one would work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138262
make sure the proccser and RAM are compatible. also check wat kind of HD ur son has and make sure if its a SATA or ATA the mobo can take it also u will have to reactavite windows if ur son is running XP because of all the hardware changes
Thanks for the advise guys, I'll be looking into the 2 boards recommended. And thanks for the timely reminder about re activating Windows, I'd forgotten that little challenge.
