After years of putting up with on board sound and cheapo ear bud headphones, I've finally decided to venture into the world of High-Quality sound. However, I know absolutely *[bold]nothing[/bold]* about either headphones or sound cards, and was hoping for opinions, recommendations, horror stories, whatever from y'all. I'll mainly be using these for gaming (Oblivion, UT'04, Prey, etc.), with some occasional music, no professional audio editing/restoration or super-high def music playback. Hearsay and the fancy-sounding name (yes, this is how little I know about audio) have lead me to believe that Creative X-Fi might be the way to go? Is there any real difference between the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty apart from the price? Headphones... a complete blank, utterly open to suggestion. I was hoping for around £150GBP for both card + headphones, though I can probably stretch to £175 if need be. Thanks for any responses...
The only real difference is the extras and some minor features... and the price. For an excellent sound experience get The X-Fi Xtreme Music. Excellent card For headphones it all depends on your budget. You can get the Alienware Ozma 7.1 headphones for $200. http://www.alienware.com/GearShop_Pages/Gear_Shop_Detail.aspx?ItemId=13930&CatId=1090 Or the Sennheiser emulated surround headphones for $80.00. I have these ones and they sound spectacular! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826159421 Dunno how to translate to Pounds/Euros or whatever. Give 'em a look on eBuyer UK or something.
Thanks for the tips, I'll prob go for a X-Fi Xtreme gamer Fatal1ty, simply because i read in a consumer review that going from an X-Fi Xtreme music to Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty was like going from on board to Xtreme music, so i can't really go wrong Those Alienware headphones look amazing, if i can squeeze the extra money outta my mum I'll more than likely get them. Thanks again mate
