backing up laserdisc -> DVD, help please

#1 28 Jun 2002 @ 13:35
I'm trying to backup my large laserdisc collection onto DVD. but I don't want to lose the 5.1 dolby sound, or the clarity. Please help. I have a Pioneer DVR-A03 and it works great for backing up my data, and DVD movies, but I want to backup my laserdisc.

Thanks
J

you need a tv tuner card or other capturing device for your computer. capture your video to your computer using the directions provided with your tuner card or whatever you bought and then follow the other info already here. You will not likely be able to preserve your 5.1 sound though for most tv tuner cards are not able to capture 5.1 sound. You may be able to run it through your soundcard rather than your tuner card and capture the 5.1 audio if and only if your soundcard already supports 5.1 audio.
