I have been having problems for the past couple of days on my PC with video playback. Whenever I am watching any kind of video file on WMP or VLC media player, the video will sort of "catch." The video will pause for a second or two with the same image and the sound will stop, and then after a second it will pick up and basically catch up to itself. It doesn't seem to have any real pattern to the pausing, but it does get rather annoying. It had not started doing this until a couple of days ago, and now every movie file I have does it. Any suggestions?

I had some problems with a recent microsux update this maybe your culprit my files play in wmv in black and white and I downloaded new updated codecs as someone suggested it didn't work. My laptop had the same problem and had to reinstall the whole thing to get it working so the solution didn't work for me However this could work for you. I can only assume you have spyware/virus protection but a scan wouldn't hurt and defragging but I suspect a broken or damaged codec. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/k-lite_codec_pack_update.cfm this a link to a codec pack
