How to create an Xbox ISO using Qwix v1.01 & Burn with Nero...Tutorial

The Xbox uses a file system called XDFS, and if your disc is not compiled correctly it simply will not boot. The best tool for the job is Qwix v1.01 from Team Avalaunch. Its the fastest and most compatible homebrew tool we've ever used for this job. Here is a quick and simple tutorial on how to create an XDFS iso from a dir of files.

First open Qwix - u can download it here http://www.teamavalaunch.com/qwix/
Click on Create ISO and select Local Folder.

Click on the browse icon to locate the DIR where the files for which you wish to create a disc.

In this case they are in a folder called "xbox" on the desktop. Select the folder and click OK.

    Now click on Create ISO
    [IMG]

Select the destination for your ISO image. Here, we have selected the desktop again and will call it xbox.iso. Click the Save button.

Approx 2 seconds later you'll get this message. Erm that was it boys and girls - how EASY is that ?

Now you will want to burn the ISO with Nero. First open up Nero (if you don't know what Nero is visit their website http://www.nero.com/) - For this tutorial we are using Nero Burning Rom 6. Click On File > Open
    [IMG]

Now you want to open up your ISO image. Remember we saved it to the desktop in a folder called xbox.

Now you want to select the file extension to iso so you can see the xbox.iso file. Goto File of type: window and select Image Files (*.nrg,*.iso,*.cue)

Select the ISO image and click Open
    [IMG]

For this example we are going to burn to a DVD. If you wanted to burn to a CD make sure the Write Method is set to Disc-at-Once.

Just click on Foreign Image to see if the ISO is the correct format - it should look like the picture below.

Make sure your settings are the same as the picture - now click Burn
    [IMG]

Voila! Now go play with your Xbox :)

Pretty good. It would have been nice for the novice Xbox modders to know how to use avalaunch and Qwix (since ava allows faster xfer with qwix) and how to go about it from there. But still a great tutorial for those looking on how to burn games that they already have on their computer. :)

Was there really any need for that? PAN5Y Asked for some feedback on this via your shoutbox, but there's no need to be like that; you should be happy to help him out... After all he is on your "buddys" list...
Not as if he nagged either..?

Anyway, said my bit, sticking up for PAN5Y, so I'm out now.

I have a problem and I need some help. I've looked everywhere and it doesn't seem like anyone else has this problem.

I can burn an iso onto a dvd just fine and then put it in the xbox and evolutionx recognizes the disc as a game,(The upper right hand corner goes from saying "no disc" to "game")but when I click "Play game/media from DVD" it acts like it's about to play the game but stays on a blank screen. I've tried everything burning with nero, dvd decryptor, alc 120; I've used craxtion and quix, but the same thing happens everytime.

    SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!

I've been using DVD+R if that makes a difference, but I know people who have used this kind and it worked.

Sounds like a media problem. I reccomend you get better discs, try some "Verbatim DVD-R".

Try burning at a really slow speed like x4-x8 so that the disk can come out good burning to fast may cause the disk to loose its quality so try that

Ugh, I tried burning at 1x and the xbox wouldn't even read the disk. I also tried 4x and had the same problem as above. I'm about to just give up.

Ok, now I've got a new problem. I switched over to imation dvd-r and the game starts up fine. The intro movies work perfect, but as soon as I have control the game slows down to a crawl. I tried burning it at all speeds and nothing. I also tried clearing my cache. Does anybody know what's going on? The game is Prince of Persia 3, if that helps.

Imation are quite terrible discs. Go with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden!

I'm afraid not. You could rip the game to the hard drive, but if it's a standard factory hard drive then it won't store very many games, several games it won't be able to store at all.
