    Hello.

Try uninstalling your burner and see if WinXP will recognize it and reinstall it upon restart:

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
Click the "+" symbol beside DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right click on the name of your burner if present and select Uninstall.

(If your burner is not listed, check and make sure the data cables are securely fastened to both the drive and the mobo and check the power cable as well.)

While you're here in Device Manager, reset your IDE channels.

Click the "+" symbol beside IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers.
Right click on the Secondary IDE Channel and select Uninstall.
Right click on the Primary IDE Channel and select Uninstall.
    Restart your system.

Nero 6.6.1.4 is a lousy version of Nero. I would uninstall it, run the Nero 6 Clean Tool, and then download an install the following two Nero 6.6.0.18 packages:

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

    Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

There's a much newer firmware JY08 available for your burner here:

    http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/downloads/720FWJY08/720A_JY08.zip

I'm not sure how to change the workspace path in Nero 6. If the workspace utilizes what Nero terms cache then that path can be changed by clicking the More>> button in Nero Express, clicking the Cache tab, and then changing the path accordingly.

If you're copying a DVD, why not just use DVD Decrypter? It's free and you can control exactly where you want to save the copied files.

To copy a DVD with DVD Decrypter:

Under the Mode menu, set the mode to IDE Read and copy the DVD ISO image to your HDD.
Then set the mode to ISO Write and burn the copied ISO image file to a blank DVD.

Sounds like either the Nero app is corrupted or there is a corrupted dll file.

Uninstall Nero. Run the Nero 6 Clean Tool linked above. Reinstall the 6.6.0.18 packages linked above.

Let us know if this solves your problem.
