I apologize if this should be posted elsewhere, I don't know enough to actually know where to start. If I should post this in another forum, please direct me to which one.

I have a Palm TX and want to convert a DVD to play on the Palm. What format plays on a Palm TX. And what software recommendations would anyone have for the conversion process?

    Thanks for any help.

First thing- sorry for my english ;)
Download and install TCPMP (or alternative download -here you'll find only test release, but it's very stable), a freeware audio/video player for Palm (and PocketPC)- supports all major video codecs (DivX, Xvid, mpeg, mpeg4 etc). On website you'll find links to tutorials for Virtual Dub and Auto Guardian Knot.
If you want to prepare videos especially for TX- resize them to fit in 480x320 pix, and if possible in 16 bit color- TX's screen limitations, and resizing consumes much processing power.

Other thing- it may be necessary to overclock your Palm for a smooth playback- I recommend PXA Clocker -free version has some limitations, but for TCPMP it's enough.
