I just got a wireless router 2wire model 2701HG, but it is not letting me do lots of things. Right now, I only have it connected to the first PC, so it is running on a wired connection. It is restricting things like uploading of anything (imageshack, megaupload, eBay pictures, etc...). Then it is also slowing down or completely not letting me get into things like Yahoo mail, or even to sign in to my eBay account. I figured out how to get it to work with bit torrent, but I can't get it to work fine with normal internet activity. Someone please help. I did not expect these things to give so much trouble. Thanks
im not sure if this is your problem but with my wireless netgear router i had to configure it manually to my modem
How do you go about configuring it? I figured out how to allow Azureus, but that's all I could see. Do I have to set something in Firefox??
hmmmm i not to sure it sounds like a firewall if your running any antivirus program like zone alarm or norton internet sucurity just close them also check if you have a fire wall on your router which is most likely you do just disable it .im sorry i cant really help that much because my router is a different brand to yours
Yes, the router has a firewall and I also use Sygate Personal Pro. Is there a reason that a software and hardware firewall will not work together well?? It seems like they work differently. I can't figure out what the Hardware Firewall does, but the software one asks me if I want to block something and I block everything except Firefox. When I allow something through the software that I wouldn't normally allow, it accesses the internet just fine, so I am afraid to turn off the Software Firewall. Are there maybe some security features that I can disable that would help them run together?? I cannot find any way to disable the Hardware Firewall.
i think when it asks you to allow sofware it asking you to allow the sofware to properly run the router
but my software firewall is separate from the hardware. I use sygate personal pro firewall, which I have had for years. The router I just got last week. I am considering getting rid of the router...
