yeah so im building a new comp and choosin all the peices very carfeully cuz i dont feel like upgrading the pc in 5 months. So yeah ? is amd2 or socket 939.....jw wat ur guys opinions is....also prolly lookin at the amd x2 4200 dual core....is that gonna be any good with games and future purpose? and is it better to go with ddr2 dual channel or jus a stick of 1gb of pc6400 for the ram? cuz i use to have dual channel and it made things to complicated when i made my last computer and jus bought a gig of coarsair memory and that worked great

The dual channel RAM gives about 7% performance increase.
Also, future AMD processors will be based on the AM2 socket, so might go with that even if you're only getting 1 stick of RAM right now.

    I'd say Socket AM2 and DDR2.

and you would struggle to find too many 939 chips these days, they have been discontinued for a while,

can always get 2 512 sticks unless your planning on going above 2 gigs with this setup eventually.

You should consider building core 2 duo computer. Every one of them are faster than amd 2x 4200+.

i would second that, esecialy if you dont want to upgade all the time. all you can do is buy the best you can afford at the time, the best available today is core2duo.

I was talking about intel's core 2 duo processors. They run much cooler than any amd and much faster. heres a few reviews

The Core 2's are better. Your thinking of the old P4's.
I would go AM2. I made the mistake of going 939.

If the mobo takes the Kingston, which I think it probably will, you are good to go. That board no doubt uses the older DDR RAM like mine does.
