ok guys, my video card is no longer working but i have to wait 2 weeks before i can get a replacement from ati,,, i have a really old video card that i am trying to use as a replacement until then, however, it doesnt seem to be working... my old card was a radeon 9800 pro 128mb connected dvi cable to flat panel my temporary replacement card is tnt2 ultra (really old) connected via analog (blue connector) when i start up, my screen says 'signal not found, check cables' is there something i am doing wrong for this not to work? in all honesty, the temp replacement video card could really just be done for too, however, it worked the last time i tried to use it as a replacement but that was over 2 years ago
what does reseat mean? if it means take it out and put it back in and make sure its tight, then i've done that
yea, i think maybe the card is too old or something, i dont really know how that would affect it though, the monitor and the card can still be connected via analog (blue connector) could my motherboard be going bad and affecting my orignal video card (radeon) b/c i had the same problem with another radeon 6 months ago could it be the agp slot that the graphics card is in that going bad?
Did you use the Tnt2 before in the same system you have now? Another thing is there a switch or button on your monitor to switch between analog and dvi inputs? 1 other thing is older agp card use a different voltage then newer ones. If the card is 2X agp and the agp slot on your MB is 4X,8X agp then it wont work.
hmmm, wow, well to be honest, i really think that i used this untra tnt2 as a replacement once in this computer that i have now but i'm not 100% sure about that,,, man maybe i didnt, i'm so confused, i could have sworn i did though i just thought about something, do all cards have to have power connected to them (besides being connected to the motherboard)? b/c this ultra tnt2 does not have the standard 4 pin connector piece where the PSU would connect to it,,, it does have a 26 pin set (13 next to 13) but i dont even know what that is
yea, i actually just put my radeon back in, plugged in the analog and took out the dvi, shut the radeon down, put in the tnt and its working now,,, but i'm still scared that maybe my motherboard or agp slot is ruining my video cards b/c this has happened 3 times to me,, twice in the past year alone,, any ideas?
