Can someone help me with this problem? I can play fine on custom maps and I usedto be able to play on default maps, but now it crashes about 5 minutes into the game with the sound repeating over and over. No messages appear and I usually can't get back to my desktop and have to restart my computer

Wrong thread dude. You should have put it in [bold]"Windows - Games"[/bold] in the [bold]"Software, operating systems and more"[/bold] Sub-Heading.

Sorry, I was looking for a PC game thread but couldn't find it, and my search for Counter-strike led me to a thread(unrelated to my problem though) that was in here.

hmmm reading your problem with the default maps on counter-stike, it sounds like a RAM or directX problem.

Try installing the latest up-to-date drivers for your graphics card, sound card and do a disk defrag.

That should help you out. If it doesn't, just ask for help again ;)

Any other suggestions I have the same problem. I am using a p4 3.06 w/ 1gb if ram a sound blaster audigy and a 7800 gs oc nvidia card All have updated drivers (even played around with old drivers) Still getting same problem. Also I've re-installed XP about 3 times and even took out the sound card it is still getting the same issues. I have a 550w power supply from antec so I know it isnt the power.
