Hello, After my laptop became rather sluggish I decided I would defrag the C drive, on the front of the laptop there are the two volume control buttons just under the touch pad. After taking around 3 hours it had finally finished. This had speeded the start-up rather dramatically, except now the volume control buttons don't work. I can still control the volume by clicking on the little speaker picture next to the clock and can control it through the speakers if they are connected but when I press the buttons on the front nothing happens, it used to come up with a block picture for the volume indicator, although now there is nothing. It is a Sony Vaio except I am not sure which model, I have no idea on how to fix this and I was wondering if this can fixed. Thank You For Your Help.
sounds to me like a driver issue. your best bet would be to go the manufacturer's website.. look for a link which points towards Support/Drivers and Software.. be prepared to search by your computers model number and in most cases the driver files for these buttons to operate should be listed. If this doesnt help, come back with your Computer Type/Model and i'll see what I can find for you.
Hello, Thanks for replying, I have just looked on the Sony website but I'm not sure what to look for, it has audio drivers and thats about it. The model is PCG-GRT715M. Thank You
