New Harddrive Problem

    Hey i just bought a new hdd for my computer (internal).. I have a dvd rw and a dvd rom.. i disconnected my dvd rom and put my new hdd in since the cords were exactly the same.. When i turned on my computer after placing it in spot, it was not reconized on "my computer". How can i get this hdd reconized on my computer?

    does the bios sees the new hd & what is it jumpered as as in master, slave or cable select?

    like ddp said, check that the connections are set to master and slave mode. if ur running windows xp, go to control panel, administrative tools, and click on computer management, a new window will pop up after that, and on the left side of that screen u'll see Storage and once u expand that ull click on Disk Management. than after that you should see the new drive under there if bios and u set up the connections correctly. after that u'll need a new partition and format the drive. after that u should be able to recognize the drive under My Computer. Hope this helps
