Combo drive does not read DVDs!

    Hello: My Combo drive(CDROM/RW+DVD ROM) model:LITE-ON COMBO LTC 48161H used to read DVDs earlier. Once when I was trying to copy a CD using nero , sparks started flying out my drive and the CD bursted in peices. Later.. I had to manually open the drive and clean it. After that It writes and read CDs but does not recognize DVDs. When I enter a DVD the busy light stays on for a long time and finally the computer says that it is a disc with unsupported format. Should I open the drive and clean it again? What will solve my problem..please help!

    No brainer. Toss the drive into the garbage can, and buy a new burner.
