i have used and seen wireless speeds up to 100Mbps mine is running at 11.00 bps.... does this matter and or how do i speed it up? I have a linksys wireless-B 2.4GHz 802.11b USB anything i can do to speed it up? jigdish
no it will only run at 11mbps because its 802.11b not g. but u could speed up your internet by: * Click Start / Run * Type: gpedit.msc This opens the group policy editor. * Then go to: Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Network / QOS Packet Scheduler / Limit Reservable Bandwidth * Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab: * "By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." * So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%
what is your internet connection rated at as most likely won't see a difference if upgrade to a "g" series wireless usb?
how do i tell the speed... i know i can use the laptop and get a higher wireless speed at 56Mbps... would the network router make a difference? jigdish
1st even if it says 100mb the connection u have probably isn't gonna b higher than 10mbs so u dont have to worry much about it
Yes thats a good speed... my wireless laptop computer is at 11.0 Mbps and its pretty fast for 2 other wireless laptops on the same dialup connection.
My connection on a wireless router is usually 11.0 Mbps or 5.5 Mbps.... well were getting highspeed soon so no worries
