ok so here it is the downgrading guide that i can confirm worked for me! smile!!!!

NOT FOR TA-082!!!

THIS IS FOR 2.80, NOT 2.81 OR 2.82+

download and install the Easy installer.

(The insatller is on rapid share so i no if your like me you wont trust stuff that have been uploaded to an upload site but trust me this is the real deal!)

1.Extract the archive..

2. you will now have 4 files...

2.8 > 1.5 (downgrader.exe)
2.80_Downgrader(file, Useless)
README (in german, pointless)
JPEG Image(to see if you have a TA-082)

3.Double click the 2.8 > 1.5.exe

4.You will get a window/program called "winrar self extracting Archive"
Hit browse and navigate to your PSP's drive letter (k/ for example)

5.Hit install....now wait eagerly! :)

6. Disconnect the psp from the computer and do a clean reboot of the system (psp system im talking about)

7. Turn it on and go to PHOTO.

DO NOT click on "Eloader" <----- this will Brick your system.

8.Click on Xloader!!!

9.Hit Xloader only onece and if this works prorperly nothing should happen.---> it should just show 2 otehr files now...one called "AAA" and the other "Corupted data"
Click on the "AAA" and it should bring up the picture of it saying "eBOOT LOADER".
Simply press "O" twice to get out of the PHOTO menu.

10.Go to Game on the XMB and click on the downgrader.

11.Hit "O" to start it and pray to god it works.

12.It should start the downgrader and your MS light should be blinking.

13.After 2-3mins it will ask u to resart the system...Do so.

14.Turn it back on and you will get a BSOD...hit "O"

15.Set the information best suitiong you I.E "Time" and "nickname"

16.Go to system settings and there you have you have a 1.5 psp!

Specs..^^^^

70%+ batter life (90%+ to be safe)

Formatted MS

Resortered to default settings

havent tried this yet because of fear of bricking my PSP but just wondered why you didnt just put the direct download link instead of putting [DOT] in the link?

do u need to run it so it works?
do u put 2.8_downgrader on the psp?
is a "clean" reboot when u hold the power button up so it restarts?
when u extract the 2.8>1.5 where do u put the file? eg in eloder or game

let me get the end of it straight
put the files on the psp
reboot the psp
goto to xloader
this is where im lost
u hit x on xloader and then theres 2 files
and you click AAA
theres a pic and u hit O or back twice to get out of it
goto game and hit O? not X?

touran22 for a GREAT tutorial (much respect)!

And to smacyo, you must "click" it (X) to start the 1.5 Downgrader. Once there the screen will show:
Press Circle (0) to start
Press Cross (X) to exit.

Then wait and it WILL work if you follow ALL the steps. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to post another success - very pleased as I had to send in my 1.5 in for repair when the laser went out and they RMA'd me a refurbished one with 2.80 installed. Thanks a bunch for the guide, off to try 3.02 OE-B and some PSX emulator goodness!

i mean, i does let me d/l it, but when i go to open the .zip it is corrupt.

just having a little problem with installing 3.02 OEA...

its been "extracting and packing 3.02 firmware..." for about 10 mins now... starting to get worried. :-S

LOL, u got OE-B yet mate? Also extracting and making the data.psar is kinda quick not 10 minues...

oh... well, it took my PSP a long time...

Hi, great tut, I have just used this guide and now have 1.50 from 2.80, my question is, can I reformat my sony pro duo card, I see there is icon on it for part of the conversion, is it ok to clear this?

when i press "o" on the downloader it says start downdate... then it says NOT TA-079~081.
what do i do then what do i have. in my system info it says i have version 2.80. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Just wanted to report another success case. It's really not that hard. If you're confused, like I was, view video first. I do recommend formatting your ms duo first through psp, and then istalling files. I ran the downgrader twice, because the first time it froze, (made me sweat cold, thinking I bricked it), but i think it was either because duo was not formatted with psp, and I also only used a 32mb stick. Second time I tried it with a 1gb. Good luck everyone. Got me my late Xmas present.
