breaking down avi files

    i would like to know how do i take a avi file and break it down to video clips its a dvd that got converted to a avi file and i want to go from the start of one song to the end of it

    ok u know music videos goes from begining to end and its only like 3-4 min long and its a avi file well i have a music video (it was a dvd before)that is a avi file that is 120 min long i want to chop up the videos into there own 3-4 min video cause i want some of the videos not all

    Try VirtualDub. Latest versions have a smart render option so that you can cut on non keyframes. AVIDemux is another option, it has a similar feature, it only works for MS MPEG-4 and MPEG-4 Part 2 video though and only at a fixed quant. Not sure the restrictions of VDub.
