I have 2 drives: E and D. My D drive (DVD) is working, but my E drive (CD) is not. When I go into my computer and click on E, it says "e:\ is not accessible." At the same time if I open D it works fine. But if I right click on E and select properties, recording, and check the box that says allow drive to record, then my E drive magically works again, but now my D drive says "d:\ is not accessible." I then do the same thing to the D drive, then it works but E drive doesn't. Is there anyway to fix this because the drives used to work just fine. Thanks.

I am running windows xp, but haven't done a system restore. Do I need to, or is there any other way to fix this. If I do a system restore, will I lose everything I have saved on the C drive? Thanks.

Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Click the + beside DVD\CD-Rom and locate your E drive (right click>uninstall). Reboot your pc and WinXP will detect drive E and see if you encounter the same problem m8.

no m8 you wont lose everything on your c:..system restore can take you back to any of a number of points in time since you got the pc..just pick the nearest 1 to today and try that

Are you running any packet write software? (Roxio DirectCD=example) What burning programs do you have currently installed?

    hi

have you just fixed the one drive to your puter?

did you set the jumpers master slave?

one has to master and one slave if on the same eide cable to motherboard!

sounds like they are trying for priority! due to both on master?

    hi

the way to do this is to whip both drives out the puter! then you will see or should see a little like plastic square clip that is on metal terminals at the back of each drive! hopefully you should see some sort of diagram saying something like this master/slave/cs cable select!

set your mian drive to master! and the next to slave!

    Thx...
