dashboard and kernel version problem

    my dashboard is version 5960 and my kernel is 5838 i think it is too new to do anything like install linux and stuff is that true? can i downgrade my dashboard version??? or without hotswapping is there something i can do. also no modchip. someone tell me if i can still install xbox media center or linux

    come on does someone kno. or do i have to use a mod chip. if so wich one is good and cheap?
