Those angellic coders have finally figured out how to run most PS1 titles full speed, with sound.
Incredible!

Here's what you'll need
-An ISO dumping utility to dump your PlayStation 1 game.
And
-A PS1 Disc or a way of getting ahold of a PS1 game in .ISO format. Use your imagination.

Download the converter from here: http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=11961
Just run it, browse for your iso file, and check the box to generate a keys file if you don't have one. No piracy needed, and the best part is, you don't have to spend 3,000 dollars for a PS3 on eBay! :D

*********************************UPDATE************
aserto has just released a nice little application that allows you to change the name of the PSX ISO, just in case you don't want it to read Hot Shots Golf (like me :P).

Grab it from here: http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=12&fid=11970

And just in case you want your new renamed ISO to retain you're old save file... I bring you... my theory :D

I haven't tested this, but having a lot of PSP experience of using PBP unpacker to rename things and having success, here is what you should do.

You can open the PARAM.SFO file in the SAVEDATA folder and change it to your ISO's name so it still corresponds to it. For example if you used the new ISO renamer (or PBP renamer or whatever) and changed Hot Shots Golf 2 (the common Keys.bin file) to Final Fantasy 7 Disc 1, you should go in X:\PSP\SAVEDATA\UXXX\ and open the Param.SFO and change the game title from Hot Shots Golf 2 to Final Fantasy 7 Disc 1. That'll make it so it'll still correspond to the same ISO. Where as if you hadn't changed the Save name, the Save would still be looking for Hot Shots Golf, while FF7 would be looking for it's own save.

If you need a SFO editing software, download PBP Unpacker from here: http://www.pdc.me.uk/dl/pbp-unpacker-094-setup.exe

*****Another Update*******

The PSP GUI PSX2PSP is a new version of Danny K's converter redesigned by KingSquitter. Here is the changelog:

* Added PAL 2 NTSC fix
* PBP files can now be previewed
* You no longer have to re-add all the pictures when editing PBP files
* All PBP files are now 100% editable. All info on them except the iso can be changed
* Can automatically add pictures based on Game id. Add Pictures in Pics folder (please check Read me for more info)
* Can use bigger pictures and sound files, in bytes, then files converted with only popstation.exe.

Grab it here:http://dl.qj.net/PSP-GUI-PSX2PSP-0.6-General-Apps-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/12011/catid/151
#################################PLEASE NOTE
____________________________________________
____________________________________________
-This is only possible on Dark_AleX's custom firmware v.3.02 OE-B, if you have a firmware up to 2.80 that does NOT have a TA-082 motherboard, you can downgrade, then re-flash to 3.02 OE-A and then upgrade to 3.02 OE-B. If you have a firmware above 2.80, you are unable to use this at this time. Check http://pspupdates.qj.net Frequenly for updates, and i'm sure soon 2.8+ will be supported.

Happy Emulation WOO HOO!

Thanks, although it took an hour to upload to rapidshare... but whatever. After I slaved all day upgrading to OE-B and figuring out how to play final fantasy 7, i figured that other people didn't need to go through that.

Nope, just under game make a folder called whatever you want and place the keys.bin and eboot.pbp file. You should be good to go, although the one i provided in rapidshare is for Hot shots, it'll still work, just the save file will have an icon for hot shots as will the game.

instead of typing the location and stuff in the CMD. you can just open a new text document and type without the quotes
"Popstation.exe (PSX GAME).xxx"
where xxx is the file type for your game like .iso, .bin, or .img.
then save it as pops.bat, then put it in the folder with all of the needed files then double click the bat file and it should start converting the game.

Hmmm... I don't remember ever seeing a PAL version game. We have just the regular retail for Final Fantasy 7, and it works just fine... but could you give me an image of the PAL? I've seen N64 PAL versions, but never for sale anywhere.

Save places, like memory cards? I think you can open the PARAM.SFO file in the SAVEDATA folder and change it to your ISO's name so it still corresponds to it. Like if you used the new ISO renamer (or PBP renamer or whatever) and changed Hot Shots Golf 2 to Final Fantasy 7 Disc 1, you should go in X:\PSP\SAVEDATA\UXXX\ and open the Param.SFO and change the game title from Hot Shots Golf 2 to Final Fantasy 7 Disc 1.

And i'll add this to the guide.
