Hey, I bought a new [bold]Western Digital offers WD Caviar SE Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive[/bold] from ebay. I have never tried to install a hard drive on my pc before so I don't have a clue what to do.

    Here is some hard drive information;

    [bold]ebay link;[/bold]

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=220062484294&rd=1&rd=1

    [bold]Specifications:[/bold]

    [bold]Capacity:[/bold] 120 GB
    [bold]Interface:[/bold] SATA (Serial ATA)
    [bold]Rotational Speed:[/bold] 7200 RPM
    [bold]Cache Size:[/bold] 8 MB
    [bold]Maximum Transfer Rate:[/bold] 150 MBytes/sec
    [bold]Drive Width:[/bold] 3.5 inches

    My motherboard is [bold]ASRock K7VT4A+[/bold].

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks for reading

    -Simon

what exactly is your problem? you plug the sata connector wire into your drive and into the port on your motherboard, and you're done.

are you having trouble installing windows on it?

or do you just want a step by step walkthrough?

The problem is that I cannot seem to find the sata connection on the motherboard.

    Cheers for the reply..

Your Mobo doesn't support SATA, according to the AsRock site :
    http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/K7vt4ap.htm

Get an ATA (IDE) drive instead.

Hey, i get this kind of stupidity on a daily basis...

"Hi, i bought a system with you guys a year ago, and yesterday i bought a SATA drive, but it doesn't work"
"That probably means your system doesn't support SATA sir, may i suggest you bring it back and trade it in for an ATA drive instead?

Then they come with the "yeah but's", and i hand the phone to the manager...
I scream at customers like that.
