Hi, this is my first post here.

I was reffered to these forums by someone I know.

I have searched and searched and found nothing that relates to my problem except for one site, and what they told me to do didn't work.

I am having a problem with Battlefield 2142. It freezes randomly, and the music keeps looping like a scratched CD(While it's frozen). Sometimes I can alt tab out of it, but most of the time, I must press the power button to turn off my PC and just try again. I don't know how else to explain it. I have tried changing the Sound card acceleration, messing with AGP Aperture, and other things too.

If this helps, my specs are:

    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Video card: RADEON x1600 PRO 512MB
    Sound card: Realtek AC97 audio(integrated)
    RAM: 1 gb PC3200

And i have an ECS motherboard, if you need any other specs, just ask and I'll give them.

If anyone has a solution,i'd be eternally grateful, thanks.

Check your system vs the requirements found above. Is your sound card 9.0c compatible? I am unfamiliar with it. If you fail to meet ALL the specs you will experience problems. It may or may not run; could fail randomly.

Well, I went to www.srtest.com, and for the minimum requirements, it passes with flying colors, and for the reccomended, it passes for EVERYTHING but RAM, cause the reccomended is 1.5 gigs, and I have 1.

Right now, I'm checking on bf2142fever, and it meets all those requirements too, considering the requirements on srtest.com and bf2142fever.com are the same, haha.

If all the specs check out, you could see if there is any update patch available for the game. If that does not help you could check out any support forums on the game's web site (mfgr).

Well, I'm fully up to date on 2142, and have been for a while!

Anyways, I fixed the problem. I went into the bios and disabled oboard sound, and put in my Turtle beach santa cruz sound card, and it works perfectly. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
