    Hi!

I read the description posted by Shoey here about backing up Securom "New" 4 and I have an Alcohol image in Alcohols own standard format (mds/mdf) of Colin McRae 3 (CD1) with Securom "New" 4.84.76.0048 says Clony.
Since it is in Alcohols default format; can I burn it somehow without needing to use "RPM" emulation when using the copy ?
...or is it any way to build a BWA-image out of it even if its not CCD-format or can I converty it somehow?

Download Alcoholer 4.0b and after you install open Alcoholer and run Twin Creator. For Select Supported Image choose Alcohol Image (mdf) and for Select Media Description select MDS Files. Patch the file and then open Alcohol 120% and choose SecuROM 4 *NEW datatype profile and burn the image.

    4. Now it's time to patch the image files.Open Alcoholer 4.x and locate the Alcohol 120% tab folder and run TwinCreator and leave the default of 15 as it works fine for me. However, 6 and 50 are also known to work. Select the .ccd file and the .bwa file and then click start TwinCreator.Click select support image and locate the .ccd file now click select media-description and locate the bwa file and then click start. When it's finished, you'll have three new files in the same folder where you saved the original image files. Those files will be patched.ccd, patched.img and patched.sub.

    5. You've patched the image files and you're now ready to burn your back-up copy. Just start alcohol’s image burning wizard and burn patched.ccd using the securom new (not securom new 4.x) datatype setting. Because this type of copy is anything but standard,, you'll probably get better results if you burn at relatively low speed (say 8x). Before burning you'll be warned that the image size doesn't match the lead-out specified in the toc and you'll be given three burning options. The first option is correct: "Keep TOC as on source cd, write until end of image file".

Hope this works, if not then try downloading another mdf or bwa file as not every mdf or bwa file will work.

Ok, Ill try it out but shall "Burn RMPS" really be selected in A120% when burning..?

I mean, doesnt I still have to have that emulation enabled when using the copy then ?

Shall I leave it as deafault size or change it to the size of the image..?

    A) NO m8. Burn using the SecuROM *NEW datatype profile at 8x. Just start alcohol’s image burning wizard and burn the patched .mdf file using the securom new (not securom new 4.x) datatype setting.

You use Alcoholer 4.0b>launch>run TwinCreator and leave Twin Sector Step and Maximum Image Size at default (15\710).

Basically the program "patches" the file so you can play your backup in most standard roms. Be sure to burn the patched image file, [bold] not the mds file [/bold]

    Ok..,

I patched the image OK but when I would burn the .mdf it says that it is an unregognized format and that I shall specify track-format (Data Track Mode 1 etc...), Block Size,Image Header Size and Image Trailer Size...
Its a box coming up asking me to fill it in...
Where do I find these values?

Btw: Really appreciate this forum and the help one gets here and learns about burning.
Especially thanks to ya Shoey 4 helping me out...
A while ago I asked around here wahts the best burner and after I bought a Litey 52246S and its awesome in burning especially SD 2.9 and I can even use the updates when using the copy-disc...

After patching, you should see 2 patched files in the folder where you saved the .mdf file. Open Alcohol 120% and load the patched .mds file. If this fails then I have no other suggestions other than to burn RMPS but if the backup works then you'll need to install Alcohol 120% to play your backup. If you go this route besure that you enable emulation m8.
Another "possible" solution is download more .mdf files for this pc game.... Search "copy base" at Google.
