I have a Philips 60PL9200 which I really like and a Philips HTS3450 home theater. My philips doesn't have a audio out so I can't get sound from the tv to the home theater and out the speakers. I do not have a cable box yet. Is this why I can't get sound out to my home theater for tv channels? I need to get a cable box for HDTV and use the audio out from it to the home theater? Is this correct?
By the way the home theater works fine other wise and for a small inexpensive system I'm impressed.

you should be able to get audio from your TV though the surround sound system by using the audio out from the TV to the aux. audio into the surround sound receiver ,check your owners manual

    Sorry, not an option...

    Thats the problem...

He wants HDTV so he is going to need a HD box anyway and it will have the connections he needs...

he can always get HDTV though an rooftop antenna and thats an uncompressed signal unlike a cable box

Local channels only...still will not get sound to surround...He is probably going to want an antenna in addition to box...he may already have HD antenna...he has not mentioned one way or another...

    Thanks for the input..:)
